OTHER REGIONAL STRUCTURES INVOLVED IN LASCARBX CLUSTER OF EXCELLENCE
LaScArBx maintains a special relationship of scientific and operating partnership with many Aquitaine structures working in the field of archaeology: archaeology regional service (DRAC Aquitaine, Ministry for Culture and Communication) players in Preventive Archaeology (Inrap, Hades, Archéosphère).
We must also underline the importance of the old and in some cases structural links which unite LaScArBx’s teams to museums and regional cultural players, who are decisive assets to disseminate and promote the results of our research towards the general public.
The MNP is a scientific partner from PACEA and IRAMAT. It hosts the most prestigious collections of national prehistoric archaeology (>6 millions of objects). Great potential for promotion of research results at the national and international level. |
Partner of PACEA and IRAMAT for the excavations of the Pataud shelter, the MNH manages the archaeological heritage found on this site. |
The PIP is a cultural collaboration public structure which comprises the Dordogne local government, the CRAQ and the French State through the Ministries for Culture, Education and Tourism. It is in charge of a big project aiming to make the Vézère Valley (24) the largest European prehistoric site and one of the main tourist destinations for Prehistory worldwide. It will be associated with the Cluster of excellence in several promotion operations. |
The CNP is specialised in the study of decorated caves and cave painting sites in several regions of the world. Its expertise (study, conservation) is already recognised at the international level. All of CNP’s members are part of PACEA’s PPP team.. |
This municipal museum, which often collaborates with the Cluster of excellence’s teams is the third museum of Aquitaine for the diversity of its archaeological collections. |
Musée d'Aquitaine (Bordeaux) |
The Museum of Aquitaine is a logical and privileged partner of the cluster’s 3 teams for promotion. Last exhibitions: The great Anatolian civilisations (2010, with Ausonius); 20 years of research on prehistory in Aquitaine (2010, with PACEA). |
Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle (Bordeaux) |
The Museum of Bordeaux regularly asks the cluster’s teams to set up exhibitions on palaeoenvironmental thematics. |
The SRA is a privileged partner of the cluster’s teams, upstream (excavation permits) and downstream (promotion of the research). Several members of the SRA are integrated into the cluster’s teams as permanent researchers working part-time. |
The local education authority (sometimes with the DRAC) organises, since several years, with AUSIONIUS and IRAMAT-CRP2A various educational actions intended for school students and teachers (school projects, promotion of scientific culture, educational activities, initiation to research jobs, life-long learning). |
Cap Sciences is the most important centre for scientific, technical and industrial culture of Aquitaine. Its branch CAP’Archéo (“centre for heritage education”) acquaint a great variety of audiences with archaeology. The privileged partnership of AUSIONUS with this very dynamic structure will be extended to the other teams of the cluster (organisation of cultural events and activities for a young audience at the Archéopôle). |
The teams’ researchers are regularly consulted as experts or scientific counselors by regional or national museums (Bordeaux, Dax, Mimizan, Périgueux) or in the context of operations of archaeological and cultural heritage promotion (UNESCO Commission of the City hall of Bordeaux, “Cultural heritage” Commission at the Scientificc Council of the regional nature park of the Landes de Gascogne, Local Commission of the conservation area of Saint-Émilion, Scientific Council and Selection Committee of Bordeaux’s archaeological film festival: ICRONOS).
